Sunday is called a day of rest and we did rest in the Lord, committing our day and our work to Him. But it was a day filled with activity, preparation, anticipation and a whole lot of fun. Sundays are a magical time at the City of Children. It's our first day of extended time with the children -- the sole (and soul) focus of our time at the City. It's appropriate that our time with them begins in worship. Our sermon centered on two object lessons, the importance of following direction, working together, and letting God make of us what he will and to trust in Him. After that, we feasted on a homemade meal prepared by the Mamas here at the City -- with handmade tortillas, hot quesadilla, pulled beef, beans. Authentic and prepared and consumed with love. The rest of the day was a whirlwind of activity, from touring the home to cutting and plastering the place with more than a thousand minions, playing soccer and hungry hippo and games with the children, sizing up the building site, performing the first evening's skit, gathering in devotion under the night sky and then collapsing in bed.
Tonight one of the team members summed up the day by saying:
"Everywhere we go is holy ground, even the simplest task if we dedicated it to God. All we have to do is kick off our shoes and step outside our comfort zone."
It was a good day. We have a good team. And most important. God is good.
